Consul General Chaim Shacham is presently the Consul General of Israel to Florida and Puerto Rico, assigned to Miami, Florida. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Information & Internet Department. He participated in the Israeli delegation to the Madrid Peace Conference (1991) and the subsequent rounds of Middle East peace negotiations in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, he drafted the speech given by the late Prime Minister Rabin at the signing of the Israeli-Palestinian Declaration of Principles on the White House lawn on September 13, 1993. Consul General Shacham immigrated to Israel after completing high school. He served as an IDF armored company commander, and has a degree in international relations and political science from the State University of New York.
